The horse-shoe shaped Bahia Culebra shelters beautiful beaches and big
tourist projects. The huge bay (which is so deep that apparently U.S.
submarines station there during WWII) is surrounded by cliffs, 17 white and
dark sand beaches and archaeological sites.
Playa del Coco is located in south side of Bahia Culebra and it's closely
located to other famous beaches like Playa Hermosa and Playa Panama. This is
one of the most accessible beach resorts in Guanacaste, just 35km from
Liberia. Playas del Coco is basically an active fishing village with a
touristy area to the north, and the rest of the peaceful village to the
south.
Attractions
There's plenty of sun, ocean, sand and gorgeous beaches to explore. But
not everything happens above the surface of the sea. Bill Beard's Diving
Safaris can take you down under (the sea that is). There are many diving
adventure operators like Deep Blue Diving Adventures, Resort Divers of
Costa Rica, etc here so be sure go take a dive!.
As for watersports, you can rent kayaks, snorkels, canoes, aqua bikes,
take banana boat rides and bout tours. So there's plenty to do for everyone.
A couple of miles from Sardinal (in the access road to Playas del Coco)
you can enjoy Canopy tours and butterfly farms.

The Pullmitan (14th St, 1-3 Avenue; 222-1650) bus service can take you
from San Jose to Liberia, and once there switch to the bus to Playas del
